The Taasehene Nana Kwaku Duah Agyeman (I) of Otumfuo has taken a shot at those who are swaying the Ghanaian discussion on LGBTQI issues.

He has said that discussions concerning the LGBTQI community are pointless and a curse for the country, and that there is no reason to continue the discussion because Nananom and the religious establishment despise their actions.

He remarked on the morning program of Kumasi-based EIB Networks Ultimate FM, which MyNewsGh.com was watching.

“These debates are needles; why ask the President to state his position when as a nation, we already detest this. Don’t we already know that Sodom and Gomorra were destroyed in the Bible because of these things?

The statement “This will bring curses, it is not a topic we should explore here, and our values must be protected at all times for our people, not for the petty interests of any group” He made it known.

In Ghana, there is a bill in parliament that would make it illegal to support LGBTQ+ rights or to identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender.

The Promotion of Appropriate Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill has prompted indignation and terror in the LGBTQI community, with activists warning that it might intensify pervasive persecution and violence.

Human rights experts claim that although there haven’t been any gay sex cases prosecuted in Ghana in years, LGBTQ+ individuals still frequently suffer abuse, discrimination, and even violence.

According to existing law, supporting LGBT+ rights or identifying as LGBTQ+ are not crimes.
